Ramsbottom is one of Lancashires oldest towns, although the exact date of
settlement is not known, but artefacts dating back to 4,000 BC have been found.
Its most famous monument is Peel Tower named after Sir Robert Peel the founder of the Police Force and Prime Minister in 1841.
